Working with people to open new thinking, building capability and solving problems and identifying opportunities has been my life’s work – It’s what I do and who I am.
I’m a licensed counselor in Pennsylvania and Delaware with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. I also have advanced executive and organizational coaching training, which better informs me of the various challenges that professionals face in their work environments and careers. I’ve worked in the behavioral health field for over 20 years across the healthcare system as mental health and addictions counselor, clinical supervisor, and manager.
I’ve been in private practice for over 12 years in the Chester County, PA community. Paula Tropiano Counseling & Coaching is my virtual practice, an outgrowth of what’s next for me and my way of practicing in our post-COVID world. I also provide Employee Assistance Consultation and training within a global Fortune 100 Corporation in support of mental well-being.
One of my specialties (and passions) is counseling healthcare professionals at risk of or experiencing symptoms of burnout; problems with mood, energy, and behavior – Helping them get back on track. I understand complex organizational dynamics and systems, the demands of direct care, and the stressors and pressures faced in their ongoing efforts to establish balance and feel a sense of personal control in their lives.
We’ll work together to develop healthier, more effective coping behaviors and improve interpersonal skills and relationships – all important to your health and well-being. I pull from and apply evidence-based behavior methods, informed by Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practice to identify and change negative thinking patterns and promote positive behavioral changes.
Resilience, the ultimate goal is to better trust yourself and your skills when responding to discomfort, stress and life demands – To trust ourselves and feel competent is incredibly empowering!
We are designed, by nature, to learn, grow and make our best effort to reach our individual potential ā You deserve that, too.
